“My contribution to the voices was a meditation on ‘silence’ and ‘soundings’ reflected on the tree shrines I encountered in Hanoi (image left). My soundtrack included bird song and Ocean Vuong reciting the tones of the syllable “ma” in Vietnamese. I made the shrine on the spring equinox six days after the Atlanta spa murders as a gesture of remembrance, release, and veneration, grief work in ceremony, measured in solar-earth time. I’m sowing seeds of calendula which, despite my casual planting method, grew.
Below I am venerating the tree and the calendula “little clocks” on the fall equinox.”
